clothing_labels_for_campWhen you rent a mountain cabin, it’s not unusual to find things that were left behind by previous tenants.  Whether it’s a beach towel or a box of tea bags in the cupboard, people rarely check out of a vacation rental without leaving something behind.  But sending your kids to camp is a different story. That’s why so many parents rely on clothing labels for camp.  When things get lost at overnight camp, they are either intentionally or mistakenly taken home to another child’s home, never to be seen again.  That may be fine if it’s an old t-shirt or a tube of toothpaste, but it is usually something a lot more valuable.

For example, when kids take their favorite sweat jackets to camp, from Abercrombie, The North Face or another high-end brand, they should be labeled clearly.  Clothing labels for camp can be purchased in rolls of clothing name tape or sheets of self-adhesive labels. Some parents prefer to use sewn in or iron-on labels because they are harder to remove.  If you don’t want your child’s belongings to be left in the cabin, in the Lost and Found, or in another camper’s suitcase, then it’s important to teach your child to look after their things.  Sometimes campers borrow jackets and sweaters from one another and then leave them outdoors overnight after a campfire.  If you don’t want your child to lend their clothing to other kids, then be sure they know how to politely say “no.”

Clothing labels for camp used to be something you would find in every mother’s “junk drawer” or sewing basket, but some families have come to rely on permanent markers instead.  There is nothing wrong with pulling out the old “Sharpie” marker for labeling sports equipment, lunchboxes and backpacks, but you will need something a little more delicate for clothing.  Camp clothing labels can be removed or switched out for another child later on. They remain adhered to clothing after multiple washes, and usually outlive the clothing itself.

Another great reason to keep your child’s clothing labeled is that they include more than the child’s first and last name.  Most of the clothing labels for camp are found at BestNameTape.com have enough room for an address, phone number and even an email address.  This way, if your child’s favorite sweatshirt goes home in another camper’s suitcase, it can be mailed back to your home.
